Ambassador: Russia worried by MegaFon, VimpelCom tax woes in Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, Feb 11 (PRIME) – Russia is worried by a rising tax burden on its companies working in Tajikistan, including leading mobile operators MegaFon and VimpelCom, Igor Lyakin-Frolov, Russian ambassador to Tajikistan, said Thursday.
“We are deeply concerned about the issue. The matter will be certainly included on the agenda of a meeting of an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, scheduled for this spring in Dushanbe,” Lyakin-Frolov said.
“Directors complain that the tax policy in the country is unpredictable: it’s difficult to plan activities in the conditions, when the tax burden changes constantly, it moves upward. As a result, the firms’ margins decline making the reason behind their local activities doubtful.”
